Hello, and welcome to in1000words, a news site about historical events. I’m the founder and editor-in-chief of this site, and I’m glad you’re here.
in1000words is a unique project that explores the possibilities and challenges of generative AI – human collaboration. The content on this site is created by generative AI platforms, based on the prompts written by human editors from PureMind Advising Services Ltd (www.puremind.co.uk), a company that specializes in consulting, market research, content generation and education. The editors also review and edit the generated content, checking the accuracy of the information and sources, and making additions or deletions when necessary. However, we do not guarantee the accuracy of all information, and we encourage you to do your own research and verification.
The goal of this project is to experiment with different ways of writing prompts and wording methods, and to observe how generative AI platforms respond to them. We want to see how they understand what is requested, how they use language, and how they vary in style and tone. Some of the content is more academic, some more literary, and some even written in the first person. We also want to compare the performance and quality of different generative AI platforms, and to follow their progress over time. The platforms we have used so far are: Bing AI, ChatGPT, Google Bard, Huggingchat, Perplexity AI, Sage – Poe AI and CapeChat.
In all our prompts, we also request generative AI platforms to limit the content they create to 1000 words. However, unfortunately, generative AI is not very successful in word counting (yet) and mostly produces longer content. Nevertheless, in order to see the development, we publish the generated content as it is, without observing the word limit.
The images on the site are also generated by Stable Diffusion AI, a text to image AI solution that can create realistic and diverse images from text descriptions. We think that these images add more visual appeal and interest to the historical events we cover.
The site is currently only available in English, but we hope to expand to other languages in the future. We don’t have a set timetable for that yet, but we will keep you updated.
This site is not an academic or scientific study, but a creative and educational project that aims to showcase the potential and limitations of generative AI – human collaboration. However, if you are interested in using our site or our methods for academic or scientific purposes, you can contact us at info@in1000words.com. We would love to hear from you.
Thank you for visiting in1000words, and we hope you enjoy reading our stories.
